Brr!

We've gotten our first snowfall up here in northern Wisconsin since I've been here. It didn't stick, but it was chilly! It made me a little nervous - but excited at the challenge.

A lot of people have asked me, “Isn't it going to be cold starting in February?“ My answer is, “Yes, I think so!“ I'm hoping that the training we're going to be doing in a northern Wisconsin winter will prepare us for an east coast winter.

Is there anyone from the east coast (Delaware/Maryland/West Virginia) that can tell me what to expect in February?? :)

Tuesday will be one of our first cold-weather tests. We are planning to set the tent up in the back yard Tuesday night, get up at 5:30 am on Wednesday to make our coffee and set out on a 15-mile trek to town.

So far we've been working mostly out of home on office stuff like letters and calls, so our training has consisted of short walks and high-intensity work-outs at our trainer and friend, “Megaphone“ Annie's house. For those of you that don't know the story behind her nickname, she was one to step up and get everyone's attention at our first two fundraisers.

I'm really looking forward to the long walk. I'll let ya' all know if I find anything interesting on the side of the road. :)

Hi Robin. I am Spike Silvernail from N. VA. I've just run across your story from the latest email newsletter from 4Imprint. I receive the newsletter because my employer, National Student Clearinghouse, is a customer.

What caught my eye about your story (besides the AA back story - good post from your mom!) was your hike. It's something I've always wanted to do and plan on doing sometime over the next few years.

It's good to read you are in full remission and how special is it that you get to do this hike with both your parents! Very cool.

Since I am so close to Delaware/Maryland/W Virginia I'll just give you the low down on Northern Virginia weather in February. It's usually in the mid 30s to 40s and we may get a little snow on the ground. Certainly nothing like you're used to. Towards the end of the month is gets pretty windy but I am sure you won't need to worry about that since you all will be out of this area before then.

I will check back to see how ya'll progress goes as your journey progrresses.
