The flights are booked. We will be arriving on the east coast the afternoon of Thursday, February 2nd and taking our first steps away from the Atlantic Ocean officially on Saturday, February 4th at around 8:00 a.m.
Now we just have to pull together a bunch of last-minute, really important parts to this hike – like mapping! I found in college (since I’m a natural procrastinator) that I do pretty well under time pressure, so I’m ready for the challenge!
I know we aren’t going to be 100% prepared for this – but then again, are you ever 100% prepared for anything? 2005 ADT thru-hiker, Marcia Powers, gave me some words of advice that I completely agree with and will live by for at least the next 9 months -- “Plan, then adapt.”
So we’ve been planning, will keep planning, and we’ll be as ready as we can be.
Welcome to crunch time! J 17 days and counting!
