So much rain! It just poured all morning. We were completely drenched, but there's this thing about rain... you can try and try to stay dry, but at some point, you just give up and enjoy it. This reminds me of when we went camping with Anne, Craig and their kids at Devil's Lake (WI). We went for a hike, it started raining, and before we knew it, we were all jumping in every puddle we could find! It was so much fun! We didn't jump in puddles today, but we just hike on and enjoy the fog, colors, and the small streams that turned into rushing, churning rivers.
We took a lunch break at a small diner in Chesterhill, where we excitedly joined the Buckeye Trail. We're now following the blue blazes almost all the way through Ohio.
It's kind of a strange thing to us how 11.4 miles is a short day, now. We wanted to have a little extra time with dad on his last night with us, so we decided to only hike until 2:30. And it's been nice resting our feet for the few extra hours, too.
Tomorrow dad's going to see if our package with our fuel came yet, then find us around lunchtime. Then we're sadly going to have to part ways. It has certainly nice to have one of our 5-star trail angels from home give us some car support. And as I predicted, we are rejuvenated for yet another good stretch.
Thunderstorms are in the forecast for tomorrow. That will be exciting!
