Between a near lightning strike, a bobcat 'encounter' and the arrival of my aunts, it's been a wild ride. Read the last three posts for a complete update.

Miles: 18.8
Weather: Rain
I woke up, took a sip of coffee, and panicked. I couldn't find the Ziploc™ bag we keep our maps, turn-by-turns, and GPS in! Oh no! We looked everywhere. We figured we must've left it at the cafe last night. So I calmed down, we got ready and walked the mile back to the restaurant. Whew, it was there! Since we walked that extra mile back, we figured we may as well sit and get a hearty breakfast.
So we were on our way, and it rained, and rained, and rained. But we just kept walking. We were on the news again last night, so we had honkers and wavers, and that really kept us happy. A couple of the car horns made me jump, but that makes us laugh, too, so we were entertained all day! We even got two thumbs-up and one guy hollered, "Thank you!" out his car window.
We got treats, too. One lady pulled over and quickly handed us a half loaf of bread, lunchmeat and cheese. When we walked through the cute town of Newburgh, a couple of stylists from a hair salon stepped out and hollered and waved for us to come over. We did, and when we walked in the busy salon, everyone cheered and clapped! That was a new one! They brought out cold cans of soda for us to drink, and even put a bunch of granola bars and goodies into a bag for us to take along.
One nice thing about the rainy days is that our skin gets a little break from the sun. My tan lines are getting serious - there is a line on my ankles from my socks, my shoulders, neckline, watch, ring, and even my forehead where I wear my "Our Hike" bandana.
And hey - speaking of the "Our Hike" bandanas, by making a $25 donation or more to the AA&MDSIF for "Our Hike," you can get one! I think everyone should get a tanline across their foreheads like me so I don't feel so silly! :) We could start a new fashion trend. By 2007, it'll be called a "hiker's tan," instead of a "farmer's tan!"
We hiked along the Ohio River for a bit this afternoon, and the mist and fog over the fields was really pretty. A couple of miles down the road we got a call from my Aunt Karen and Aunt Lee. They were at the airport and needed to know where we were so they could meet us. Mom and I have been so excited to see them! So a short time later, a car came around the corner with the headlights blinking and horn blaring! It was a great sight - not only a sure sign that we could rest our bodies for the night, but a family visit! It was a very emotional and happy moment.
We ate dinner, got to the hotel room (which Karen and Lee chose with a Jacuzzi in the room - YAY!), sat in the Jacuzzi, I took video of water spraying everywhere and all of us hysterical, went through all the goodies Karen and Lee brought us, complete with a Ziploc™ of Bounce. Then, we watched the news, and now we're all in bed. Whew.
These three sisters can be dangerously funny when they get together, and I am looking so forward to spending their "seester weekend" with them. Since my mom's on the hike, the "seester weekend" came to her, so I get to get in on the fun! :) After all, we lost count how many times people have told mom how we look more like sisters. I keep saying it's 'cause I look old. ;) Just kidding, of course!
