For Mother's Day, mom requested that I get up before her, letting her sleep in, and make the coffee and breakfast. So I did. It was pretty cool. She didn't really sleep as I made the coffee - she was giggling at me - I was trying to function, but the morning wasn't letting me. So, I think it ended up being entertainment more than anything. Mom got breakfast in bed. We are staying in Dick's camper. We're livin' large! Warm and dry. Right now it's raining. We are especially thankful!
We hiked hard today. We did our 20.8 miles between 7:45 am and 3:30 pm. We lightened our load, and for an extra Mother's Day gift, I carried the pack and mom went without. So that was cool. At each trailhead, Dick would park and walk towards us. He probably walked 5 miles total. He's trying to work his way to a full day with us. He really pushed us on today, too. We all survived our first day together.
After hiking, Margie, Grandma, John and Lace came out to meet us. We all drove into Hermann for a Mother's Day dinner. Mom ordered a full rack of ribs and they hung over both sides of her plate! She almost finished them, even. We visited and had a couple of drinks, and now we're going to sleep like rocks.
We're going to try for about 27 miles tomorrow. That'll be a good day!
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! :)
