A lot of people asked before we left what we would do if mom and I got into an argument, and I always said we'd walk faster. And being together 24/7 for as long as we have, we're doing very well. Today we had an argument, and it probably lasted an hour before we finally both shut up. I know you're going to want to know what about - it was life's challenges. I don't know how we turned that into an argument, but we did. We are amazing, hey? We cruised right through Great Bend and missed a turn, but thankfully we didn't have to backtrack. I got out the map and GPS and we were on track in no time.
Our afternoon break was in Pawnee Rock. We stopped in the Great Bend Coop - Pawnee Rock branch for water. What a great group of people! We had so much fun talking with them - we even got a demonstration on their process of weighing and testing the quality of wheat that comes in. It's really very cool. They have machines that sort kernels from "foreign material" and a machine that tests the moisture level and even the temp of the wheat. AND - mom asked them how many loaves of bread 1 square mile of wheat made, and boy, did they get into that! So they actually calculated it based on this years' crop. So we know the answer! Let's see if anyone has any guesses!
Thank you to the folks at the Great Bend/Pawnee Rock Coop for the water, coffee, restrooms, and great company!
We hiked into Larned and it ended up being late and dark. It was probably 10:30 when we decided we wanted to just grab a motel and pass out. There were two - both had no vacancy. We went to eat at Sonic, and caught a ride to a park where we set up the tent. It was a busy park on a summer Friday night. But we were happy to be off our feet. What a hard day.
And today is my and Adam's 5-year wedding anniversary. We treated ourselves to a long phone call in the afternoon. Adam - I love you, miss you, and Happy 5th! :)
