It's actually raining right now! Maybe our tent will get a little clean - it's been so dry and dusty, and everything has stuck to it. Just like our skin. We lather on sunscreen on any exposed skin, then we walk and every little speck of dirt sticks to us. This is our third night in the tent and we are filthy! Tomorrow we have got to get a shower!
Not too much happened today. We did see a rattlesnake, though. Thankfully a dead one. And now we know what they look like. I got a close-up photo of its rattler and its fangs. I had to kind of step on it to show the fangs, but the pic turned out pretty cool.
We were really excited to be able to see the mountains today, but it got cloudy and pretty much stayed that way. One guy told us we'd be able to see Pike's Peak while walking Hwy 96. "It's the one that's white on top." But, nope, no Pike's Peak - only nasty dark clouds. Darn it. Maybe tomorrow it'll be clearer out. Every once in a while there'd be a short break in clouds and we'd get to see them a little, but it never lasted. Just enough to tease us.
We're going to drift off to the sound of rumbling thunder, raindrops on the tent, and the warmth of a little sunshine. I have to go see if there's a rainbow.
