Our flight back to Colorado went well. It was uneventful, and that's always nice when traveling. When we got to Grand Junction, our wonderful trail angel, Sandy, was there to pick us up. Thanks again, Sandy!
We got dropped off at the same motel we left, and we were awaiting a mail package with our new hiking boots and our Utah Turn-by-turn maps, along with some food items. It didn't come, and that really didn't make any sense. Our old boots were done-for, and we risked it and left them with my dad. Go figure! The ONE time we leave our old boots, the new ones don't show up. So we had two options. One was to hang around until Monday or, two, hike in our Crocs and re-supply using the expensive country store. We chose option two, anxious to get back on the trail. We are nervous about hiking mountain foot trails in our crocs with 35 pounds and no ankle support, but it's all we've got. We do have a new pair on the way to Whitewater in case our old package doesn't show up. So I have to honestly say that that stressed me out a little bit.
We are now re-supplied and ready to hike tomorrow. That's the plan. We were going to hit the trail today after flying back, but we had so much to do. We once again had good intentions.
We are heading into some National Forest area that's pretty desolate, so it might be a few days before we will have another journal entry. It should be a beautiful stretch!
