We were up bright and early at 4 am this morning. We jumped in the truck with Dave and he brought us along to his Lion's Club meeting in Old Town Auburn. Let me tell you about this group. Holy wake me up! This was the most energetic group of morning people I've ever encountered in my whole life! I couldn't help but smile until my face hurt! We walked in and Dave introduced us to everyone. Hugs, handshakes, morning greetings, jokes, and smiles were tossed around the room. We got breakfast, drank some coffee, and then the meeting began. They all sang a welcome song for the guests, and a few other songs. I'm telling you, I wouldn't need coffee in the morning with this crew! It was so much fun to be there. We got up and told everyone what we were doing and why, and we received overwhelming support from them. It was just a very cool experience. Thanks, Auburn Lions, Dave & Shaun for a warm welcome and great visit.
After that we did a little re-supply shopping and headed out towards our daily destination. Brian from KCRA in Sacramento and his videographer came out to do some footage of us hiking and an interview. That was fun, as always! :)
After they left, we swung into a restaurant in Old Town Auburn and ate huge chef salads, made some phone calls, and finally hiked on. We trucked it to meet back up with Brian, who we interviewed with earlier. He invited us back to stay at his home. We couldn't pass up a soft bed for another night! Oh, it's so good to be back in civilization.
Tomorrow we get onto a bike path all the way into downtown Sacramento. We are excited. We are running on adrenaline right now, but we'll see if we can actually "run" with our packs on. Maybe when we see that ocean!
